Deland Tyerell, an earnest Aleena, is driven to ban podracing after his father, Ratts Tyerell’s, death in the Boonta Eve Classic, which Anakin Skywalker famously won. Deland became friends with aspiring podracers Volo and Pyya on Malastare. After Pyya's passing, Deland continued to support Volo through their grief.
