A grotesque member of Jabba the Hutt's court, Ephant Mon was a monstrous, upright pachydermoid with tough, wrinkled skin, stubby legs and large, powerful hands. The front of his form was dominated by a long face, with watery, pensive eyes, and a tusk-filled snout. The ponderous Mon wasn't very mobile, and carried a gruesome bone as a walking stick.

Ephant Mon, the cagey and highly intelligent Chevin from Vinsoth, is the closest thing that Jabba the Hutt had to a friend. In his younger days, Mon worked as a mercenary, amassing wealth by running guns for anyone, from pirates to seditionists. His growing circle of connections in the underworld eventually brought Mon to the attention of Jabba, and the two struck up an unlikely friendship.

Mon was there to collect malium, a trace atmospheric mineral that could be used in a drug-making process. He also smuggled contraband swoops and technology to Bron, the leader of a controversial progressive movement to modernize Cerea.

Jabba uncharacteristically saved Mon's life by wrapping his oily fat folds around him. The crime lord provided his friend warmth, and the two kept alive long enough to be rescued the next day.

Mon, who wasn't entirely untouched by the Force, believed Skywalker, and tried to warn Jabba. The stubborn Hutt wouldn't believe him, and instead underestimated the Jedi.

Ephant Mon was a giant foam rubber construct worn as a full-body suit by a puppeteer. The puppet had an opening that allowed Salacious Crumb to be perched atop his shoulder. Ephant Mon's production nickname was "Elephant Man."
