A smuggler by trade, he was one of archsmuggler Talon Karrde's chief aides, having served him since he formed his ring. Aves served Karrde as both an adviser and a communications officer. He also coordinated the activities of field operatives and, in effect, acted as the smuggler's ship dispatcher.
