At one time nicknamed the "One-Eighty-Worst" for their lackluster record, this TIE fighter squadron was whipped into shape and made famous by Soontir Fel during the early years of the New Republic. The 181st served during the Battle of Endor, and fled when Captain Pellaeon ordered the retreat of the Imperial forces after the death of Emperor Palpatine. It was believed that this group was assigned to Warlord Zsinj's fleet, although the exact reasons weren't discovered until Admiral Rogriss revealed that the actual 181st was still an Imperial unit. Zsinj himself had created a duplicate 181st, with Tetran Cowall acting as Soontir Fel, in the hope of drawing Rogue Squadron into a trap.
