The Naboo Royal Starship boasts a strikingly beautiful design that embodies the craftsmanship that prevailed in the peaceful years of the Republic. The polished, streamlined J-type 327 Nubian vessel lacks any offensive weaponry, but does feature strong shields and a competent hyperdrive.

It sustained damage to both its shield generator and hyperdrive, though the former was repaired by the ship's loyal contingent of astromech droids. With a leaking hyperdrive, the ship limped to Tatooine, where a replacement T-14 hyperdrive generator was procured.

Designed around technology imported from Nubia and elsewhere, the Royal Starship's unique spaceframe was crafted at Theed. The purely decorative gleaming finish is royal chromium, a substance usually reserved only for vessels serving Naboo's monarch. The mirrored surface is hand-polished and crafted by fine artisans, not by automatons or factory equipment.

Early designs for the Queen's ship included a sleek space yacht that was powered by a huge solar sail. When George Lucas instead opted for a sleek, chrome look, Design Director Doug Chiang turned to 1950s-style automobile hood ornaments for inspiration.
