The Clone Wars ended with the rise of the Emperor Palpatine. The Emperor's new agent Darth Vader is credited for decimating the Separatist Council. A command signal originating from the Council headquarters on Mustafar and bounced through the scattered Separatist fleet deactivated the enormous numbers of battle droids still waging war throughout the galaxy. Droids suddenly stopped in their tracks and dropped their weapons as the signal wormed its way through the HoloNet. Finding themselves suddenly outgunned, what few organic Separatist forces remained capitulated.

Gizor Dellso, a Geonosian Separatist, refused to surrender. He was one of the engineers who constructed the signal override apparatus, developed years earlier when the Trade Federation most feared that their droid army could ever be used against them.

Intimately familiar with the parameters of the droid signal device, Dellso found a way to countermand the deactivate signal, and soon newly minted battle droids began churning out on the fiery world.
